Resources for the civil war in El Salvador – Lead in to Vida y Muerte

For several years, before reading Vida y muerte, I have explored the civil war in El Salvador and its role in the exodus of people to the U.S. and the establishment of MS-13.

A good place to start with the civil war is to study of Archbishop Oscar Romero and to watch the movie Romero on Amazon Prime.

It is essential to see the different sides of the conflict and who played a part in driving the country to war. You can use the presentation here: Intro and review of the civil war in El Salvador, Oscar Romero.

After breaking down the sides of the conflict, we explore reasons and factors that cause people to emigrate and relate it to the war in El Salvador.¿Por qué emigra la gente? – Why do people emigrate?
